A two vehicle accident on Markland Pike last Thursday has resulted in the death of a county man.
James Allen "Jim" Williams, 49, of near East Enterprise was traveling northbound on Markland Pike at approximately 5 p.m. last Thursday when his vehicle met a truck pulling a 25-foot flatbed trailer, and driven by Steven W. Gregory of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, which was traveling south on Markland Pike.
According to investigators from the Indiana State Police, the two vehicles met while entering a curve in the roadway. The driver's sides of the two vehicles met, causing the collision.
Jim Williams was pronounced dead at the scene; while Steven Gregory was treated for minor injuries.
Trooper Matt Holley of the Indiana State Police led the investigation; and was assisted at the scene by Switzerland County Sheriff's Department, Jefferson Craig Fire Department, East Enterprise Fire Department, and Switzerland County Coroner's Office.

Jim Williams was born in Cincinnati, Ohio; and was the son of Peter and Carol Williams, both of whom preceded him in death.
He moved to Switzerland County in 1983, and was a 1984 graduate of Switzerland County High School. He was employed in Outside Maintenance for Kentucky Utilities.
He married Laura Lea Craig on August 30th, 2006, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Levi Green and wife Kaylee of Hanover; and Logan David Williams of Vevay; and a daughter, Lily Ruth Williams of Vevay. He is also survived by a grandson, Elijah L. Green; his step-mother, Mary Williams of Blanchester, Ohio; and three brothers: Scott Williams and wife Amanda of Florence; Pete Williams and wife Belinda of Madison; and Steve Williams of Friendship.
Also surviving is a step-sister, Diana Williams of Maryland; and his in-laws: David and Lisa Craig of Quercus Grove; along with other relatives.
