Rosalie Ellis

Rosalie Ann Ellis, 92, of Patriot, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28th, 2017 at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Patriot.

Rosalie was born on April 15th, 1925. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She just loved children, and was a great mom and grandmother. She never missed their games and was always the first one to volunteer to help out at any of their events. When she and her husband retired to Corpus Christi, Texas, she worked at Kinder Care for several years.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ritter (nee Ellis) and son-in-law, Timothy Ritter; granddaughter Kimberly Ellis, her husband Jonathon and great-grandson Jonmichael; brother William Kashman; and sister Nancy White.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Norman Ellis; and her son Michael Ellis.

Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun is assisting the family at this difficult time.







Harold Leslie Fogle

Harold Leslie Fogle, 78, of Rising Sun, passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30th, peacefully, at his residence.

Les was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 21st, 1939, the son of the late Geneva M. (Sams) and Harold L. Fogle. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1958.

He was the husband of Donna (Ascherman) Fogle. Donna and Les were married on January 24th, 1959 at the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ. They were married over 58 years until his passing.

Les enjoyed traveling, camping and boating. Les worked as a Postal Carrier for the US Postal Service for several years.

Les was a very civic minded person and was instrumental in initiating many projects for Ohio County, the city of Rising Sun and the schools. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.

Les is survived by his wife Donna Fogle, of Rising Sun; by a daughter, Lisa Walton (Gene), of Rising Sun; by two sons Eric D. Fogle (Tia), of Rising Sun and Leslie Todd Fogle, of Rising Sun; by grandchildren: Brandi, Gina, Curtis, Shanda and Cory; by great grandchildren, Caden, Kiersten, Mason and Megan; by a sister, Deborah Heckerson, of Potomac, Illinois; and by a brother, David Fogle, of Dillsboro, Indiana.

At his request, no public service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun serving the family.





John Marksberry

John Robert Marksberry, 83, of Rising Sun, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 30th, 2017 at The Waters of Rising Sun.

John was born in Warsaw, Kentucky on June 7th, 1934, the son of the late Ida (Jones) DeWitt and Troy L. Marksberry.

He worked at Hilltop Basic Resources in Patriot for several years. John last worked as a custodian at Grand Victoria Casino.

John is survived by three sons: Robert Marksberry, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Allen Marksberry (Pam), of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Jay Marksberry (Denise), of Moores Hill, Indiana. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and by a brother: Roy Marksberry (Pat), of Foley, Alabama.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Arnetta (Devers) Marksberry, who passed away in 2010; and also by his son: Ricky Marksberry in 1994.

Also preceding him in death were his sisters: Helen Lewis, Jean Beutel, Joyce Courter and Rosie Marksberry.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 4th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Friends are invited to call on the family on Friday, August 4th, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at New Liberty Cemetery in East Enterprise, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be made to The Waters of Rising Sun Activity Fund. Cards are available at funeral home.
