Carel Titkemeyer

Carel Wesley Titkemeyer, 77, of Rising Sun, passed away at 3:22 a.m. on Friday, September 22nd, 2017 at The Waters of Rising Sun.

Carel was born in Ohio County, on July 22nd, 1940, the son of the late Juanita (Buchanan) and Ernest H. Titkemeyer. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1958.

Carel married Carolyn (Feustel) Titkemeyer on December 19th, 1970 at the Lawrenceburg Church of Christ. Carel and Carolyn were married over 46 years.

Carel served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as an accounting clerk at Monsanto in Cincinnati, Ohio, retiring in 1993. Carel was also a licensed barber and had worked at a few area barber shops earlier in life. He was a faithful member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ and was Bible School Secretary for over 20 years.

Carel was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed going to ball games at the high school. He was also a former little league coach and league bowler. He and Carolyn liked to go square dancing at one time and they loved to travel.

Carel is survived by his devoted and caring wife, Carolyn Titkemeyer, of Rising Sun; by two sons: Steve Titkemeyer and wife Nicola, of Brandywine, Maryland and David Titkemeyer and wife Danielle, of Rising Sun; by grandchildren: Joshua, Megan, Nicolas, Quinn, Ethan and Elaina; by a sister, LuAnn White, of Rising Sun; by a niece, Stacie McCarty; and a nephew, Jeremy White.

Carel was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother-in-law, Myrle White.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 30th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Brother Nathan Pelehowski officiating. Friends are invited to call Friday, September 29th, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Rising Sun Church of Christ Building Fund; The Waters of Rising Sun Activity Fund ;or Rising Sun High School Athletic Fund. Cards are available at the funeral home.





Robert Whitaker

Robert Stanley Whitaker, 52, of Rising Sun, passed away at 2:42 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 at Bethesda North Hospital in Blue Ash, Ohio.

Robert was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 2nd, 1965, the son of George Whitaker, of Rising Sun and the late Joyce Ann (Little) Whitaker. He was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1983.

Robert was the husband of Kate (Ravencraft) Whitaker. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #59 in Rising Sun.

Robert worked as a mechanic and fabricator for Neyra Industries in Cincinnati for over 30 years. Robert enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with family and friends.

Robert is survived by his wife, Kate Whitaker, of Rising Sun; by his father, George Whitaker (Kathy Burdine), of Rising Sun; by daughters: Courtney Luke (Matthew Massengill), of Rising Sun and Kelsie Fae Whitaker (Javier Cubas), of West Chester, Ohio; by sons: Nicholas Cameron Burns, of Rising Sun and Carson Timothy Burns, of Rising Sun; by grandchild: Aubree Loris Massengill; by sister, Kathy Darnell, of Rising Sun; by nieces Saraya Abner and Bryanna Darnell; and by a nephew, Robbie Abner.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Ann Whitaker.

Visitation was held on Monday, September 25th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. No other services were held.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Cards are available at the funeral home.
