Mary Ann Lambert

Mary Ann Lambert, 83, passed away October 21, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital, Evansville.

She was born August 28, 1934 to the late Addison and Mary Jo (Oberle) Smith.

A graduate of Tell City High School, she was the 1952 class salutatorian and later attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville, where she was awarded the National Office Manager Award. After graduating she worked as a secretary in the Evansville and Terre Haute offices of the Employment Security Division.

She married Walter Lambert on September 11, 1954 and moved to Vevay, Indiana where their children were born. In 1973 she and her husband opened the Tell City Dairy Queen, the first national franchise in the city. They operated the store until 1994 when they retired to Florida.

Mary Ann was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, a former member of Business and Professional Women's Club, and a past president of Vevay Chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority. She was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting and time spent with her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Walter, and their children, Scott G. (Diana) Lambert, Jane Ann Cox, Amanda Lamar (Grant Gibson), and Kathryn (John) Pyle; eight grandchildren, Christina Lambert, Jared Lambert, Elizabeth Anderson, Amy Cox, Taylor Cox, Rachel Lamar, Zachary Kalin, and Katie Kalin; 10 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM CST Saturday, October 28, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church, with visitation from 9:00-11:00 AM at the church. Father Sengole Thomas G. will officiate.

Naomi June Daugherty

Naomi June Daugherty, stillborn daughter of Stephen and Cynthia (Morris) Daugherty, passed away on Friday, October 20th, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana.

  Surviving with her parents, Stephen and Cynthia are, grandparents: Rodney and Jennifer Morris of North Vernon, Indiana; Charlie and Stacey Daugherty of Butlerville, Indiana; and Elaine and Adam Breeck of Vevay; great-grandparents: Don and Delora Morris and Raymond and June Franks, all of North Vernon, Indiana; Daniel and Nina Richardson of Westport, Indiana; Charlotte Daugherty of Butlerville, Indiana; and Mike and Sharon Hankins of Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Also surviving are uncles Darby Morris of North Vernon, Indiana and Blake Daugherty of Butlerville, Indiana; and aunt Alyssa Daugherty of North Vernon, Indiana.

 She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Joe Daugherty and Sara Hankins.

A graveside service for Naomi June was conducted on Monday, October 23rd, at the Otter Creek Cemetery in Butlerville, Indiana.

Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services were entrusted with the care of these arrangements.





Robert Lamson

  Robert D. Lamson, 86, died on October 3rd, 2017.

A memorial service for Bob will be held at the Lawrence United Methodist Church, 5200 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, this Saturday, October 28th.

Friends are invited to call on the family from 10-11 a.m., with the Memorial Service beginning at 11 a.m.  Family and friends invited.





Jerry Earl

Jerry Len Earl, age 68, of Vevay, passed away at 1:04 p.m. on Thursday, October 19th, 2017, at his residence in North Vernon, Indiana.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana.





Phyllis Hambrick

Phyllis Hambrick, age 79, of Vevay, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Friday October 20th, 2017, at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.

Phyllis entered this life on January 9th, 1938, in Switzerland County, the loving daughter of the late William S. and Anna Dorothy (Knox) Hambrick. She was raised in Switzerland County, where she was a 1956 graduate of Vevay High School and received the 'Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow' Award.

In 1957, she received her private secretarial degree from Spencerian College in Louisville, Kentucky. Phyllis was the plant manager secretary for Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corporation in Madison, retiring in 1998 after 41 years of service. She was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay.

Phyllis enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, reading and puzzles.

Phyllis will be missed by her sister, Carolyn Hambrick of Vevay; her cousins: Darlene Lynn and her husband: Marvin of Madison; Dean Hambrick and his wife: Pam of Vevay; and Margaret Ann Rowlett of Moorefield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William S. Hambrick, who died on November 15th, 1981; and Anna Dorothy (Knox) Hambrick, who died on April 8th, 2006; and by her sister, Janet Hambrick, who died on May 16th, 2007.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, October 25th, by Reverend Lenny Thorpe at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends were invited to call on the family on Tuesday, October 24th, at the funeral home.

Freda Skaggs

Freda Joy (Johnson) Skaggs, age 57, of Vevay, passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 18th, 2017, at her residence.

Freda entered this life on March 5th, 1960, in Dayton, Kentucky, the loving daughter of the late Fred and Geneva (Cole) Johnson. She resided in the Switzerland County community, since the age of 10, and was a 1978 graduate of Switzerland County High School. She earned a degree in business and her associates degree as a Registered Nurse from Ivy Tech Community College in Madison.

Freda was united in marriage on March 3rd, 1979, at Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, to the love of her life, Kip A. Skaggs, Sr., and to this union arrived a son, Kip Arthur "Kippy" Skaggs, Jr., who passed away on October 9th, 2003. Freda and Kip shared over 38 years of marriage together until her sudden passing.

She was a former employee for Vevay Shop Quik and Roxano's Restaurant for several years. Freda was currently the Assistant Director of Nursing for Gallatin Nursing & Rehab in Warsaw, Kentucky, for over 18 years. She was a former member of the Switzerland Baptist Church and a member of the New Macedonia Regular Baptist Church in Newport, Kentucky.

Freda enjoyed reading, arts and crafts and flowers, but most of all, spending time with her loving family and will be deeply missed by her family, friends and co-workers.

Freda will be deeply missed by her loving husband of over 38 years, Kip A. Skaggs, Sr. of Vevay; her mother, Geneva (Cole) Johnson of Vevay; her sisters: Helen Gabbard and her husband Junior of Altro, Kentucky; Jalia Nelson and her husband John of Crestview, Florida; Carolyn Burns and her husband Butch of Worthville, Kentucky; Lake Rayls and her husband Larry of Vevay; and Nancy Rose and her husband Roy of Madison.

She will also be deeply missed by her brothers: Larry Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky; Fred Johnson and his wife Tammy of Madison; Phillip Johnson and his wife Shelly of Vevay; Mitchell Johnson and his wife Joyce of Sabastian Branch, Kentucky; and Mark Johnson of Vevay; her several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; her aunt, Jalia Stamper of Newport, Kentucky; and her uncle, Beech Cole and his wife Mahala of Cold Spring, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Johnson, who died on October 4th, 2001; by her son, Kip Arthur "Kippy" Skaggs, Jr., who died on October 9th, 2003; her infant-brother, Paul Johnson; her paternal grandparents, Albert and Lake (Haddix) Johnson; her maternal grandparents, Chester and Polly Cole; her niece, Melissa Neve Johnson, who died on December 21st, 1998; and her several aunts and uncles.

Friends were invited to call on the family on Saturday, October 21st, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, October 22nd, by Reverend Patrick Turner, at the funeral home. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery.

Bobby Richards

Robert Halstead "Bobby" Richards, age 75, of Switzerland County, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18th, 2017, at his residence on Chapel Ridge Road in Switzerland County.

Bobby entered this life on April 11th, 1942, in Switzerland County, the loving son of the late Roy and Virginia (Alford) Richards. He was raised in Switzerland County, and was a 1960 graduate of the Vevay High School.

Bobby was united in marriage on January 1st, 1962, at the Brushy Fork Baptist Church, to Barbara Ann Hammonds, and to this union arrived five sons: Dale, Troy, Shane, Todd and T.J. to bless their home.

Bobby was later united in marriage on October 1st, 1994, on the family farm on Chapel Ridge in Switzerland County, Indiana, to the late Juanita Ann Brown. Bobby and Juanita shared nearly 22 years of marriage together until Juanita passed away on April 10th, 2016.

Bobby was a former school bus driver for the Switzerland County School Corporation for 12 years. He retired from the State Highway Department in 2009, after 20 years of service. Bobby loved working on the family farm, logging timber and working with his cattle. Anyone who knew him would tell stories of going by seeing him on his four-wheeler driving in the pasture checking fences or going for breakfast with Mike, his faithful pit bull guardian at his side. The only thing that slowed him down from getting his chores done on the farm was if someone came by and he was able to get "live and in concert" telling stories from the "Book of Bob."

He served on the Pleasant Township Advisory Board for many years. He was a member of the Switzerland County Tractor Pullers, was President of the Bear Branch Volunteer Fire Department and served as a Board of Director for the Moorefield Community Fire Department. Bobby was a lifelong resident of the Switzerland County community. The only thing he loved more than farming was his family. He enjoyed his cattle, tractor pulling and traveling to buffalo roundups and visiting civil war battlefields.

Bobby will be missed by his sons, Dale Richards and his companion Lynn Schmaltz of Vevay; Troy Richards and his wife Georgia of Vevay; Shane Richards and his wife Crystal of Carrollton, Kentucky; Todd Richards and his wife Tracie of Canaan, Indiana; and T.J. Richards and his wife Natasha of Vevay.

He will also be dearly missed by his whole herd of grandchildren: Bryan Levell, Justin Levell, Joey Richards, Jaclyn Richards Riley, Matthew Richards, Michael Hall, Brett Hall, Taylor Rowlett, Kassandra Richards, Gabriella Vaught, Chase Rowlett, Zachary Richards, Shalynn Richards, Ty Richards, Teegan Richards and R.J. Cunningham; his great-grandchildren: Carter Levell, Ashton Levell, Kahleigh Riley, Cecilia Riley, Aubrey Cunningham and Landon Levell; his sister, Becky James and her husband: John of Vernon, Indiana; and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Virginia (Alford) Richards; by his wife of nearly 22 years, Juanita Ann (Brown) Richards, who died on April 10th, 2016; and his brothers, Gayle and Jim Richards.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, October 23rd, by Reverend Ron Lee at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment followed in the Chapel Ridge Cemetery, near Fairview.

Friends were invited to call on the family on Sunday, October 22nd, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bear Branch Volunteer Fire Department, Moorefield Community Fire Department or Hospice of King's Daughters' Hospital. Cards are available at the funeral home.







Mary Halcomb

Mary D. Halcomb, age 52, of Rising Sun, passed away at 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, October 19th, 2017, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.

Mary entered this life on June 10th, 1965, the daughter of Willard and Wilma (Hampton) Halcomb. She was raised in Carlisle, Ohio and was a 1983 graduate of the Carlisle High School.

Mary was a former Manager in the Meat Department for Wal-Mart in Aurora, Indiana, for several years and a lead cashier for Wal-Mart in Ohio. She resided in the Rising Sun community for the past three years with her sister, Kay Thies.

Mary enjoyed playing bingo, cards, computer games, camping and going to the creek.

Mary will be missed by her sons: Michael Halcomb and his wife Michelle of Middletown, Ohio and Daniel Halcomb of Red Lion, Ohio; by her five grandchildren; her mother, Wilma (Hampton) Halcomb of Carlisle, Ohio; and her sisters: Kay Thies of Rising Sun, Grace Sparkman of Germantown, Ohio, and Henrietta Harrell of Carlisle, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willard Halcomb.

Kimberly Young

Kimberly Renee Young, 45, of Rising Sun, passed away at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, October 16th, 2017 in Patriot.

Kimberly was born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, on June 30th, 1972, the daughter of Vicky (Slack) and Jerry "Pete" Young, of Rising Sun. She was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1991.

Kimberly worked as a bartender at the Aurora VFW and the River House in Rising Sun. She was also a former waitress at Jack's Restaurant in Rising Sun for several years. Kimberly enjoyed doing crafts, cooking and shopping. She was a real people person and loved talking to all of her customers.

Kimberly is survived by a daughter, Atlanta Blevans (Justin) of Milan, Indiana; by a son, Justin Fletcher (Kendra Hudson) of Rising Sun; by a grandson, Devon Blevans; by her parents, Pete and Vicky Young of Rising Sun; by two brothers: Timothy Young (Toni) of East Enterprise and Michael Young of Rising Sun; by nieces Chelsea Duvall and Alexis Davis; by a nephew, Jacob Young; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 20th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Pastor Darwin Presler officiating. Visitation was held on Friday prior to the beginning of the services at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Rising Sun American Legion. Cards are available at funeral home.





Betty Brady

Betty Jane Brady, 77, of Rising Sun, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 19th, 2017 at her residence.

Betty was born in Rising Sun on October 4th, 1940, the daughter of the late Martha (O'Conner) and Dorman Ballard. She was a graduate of Dillsboro High School, Class of 1958 and also attended Rising Sun and Patriot Schools.

Betty last worked at SIEOC in Aurora, Indiana. She also had worked at Anchor Glass and the Ohio County Courthouse. Betty was a member of the Rising Sun Nazarene Church. She loved to read and also enjoyed gardening, cooking and quilting. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Betty is survived by three sons: Michael McClellan (Tina), of Rising Sun; Larry McClellan (Debbie) of Greendale, Indiana; and Bobby McClellan (Audra), of Rising Sun; by grandchildren: Andy, Adam, Jonah, Caleb, Zachary, Jake, Jason, Marc, Payton, Broc, and Hayley; and by great grandchildren: Kameryn, Bryce, Mason, Alli, Jackson and Cian.

She is also survived by a sister, Frances Mondary; and two brothers: Gary Ballard and Stanley Ballard, all of Rising Sun.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by a son, Josh Lyon; by brothers: Patrick, Earl William, Ronnie and Paul Ballard; by sisters Jo Ann Hall and Shirley Lambertson; by a granddaughter, Jodi Rowekamp; and by a great grandson, Drew McClellan.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 23rd at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Pastor Darwin Presler officiating. Visitation was held on Monday, October 23rd from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Cedar Hedge Cemetery in Rising Sun. Memorial donations may be made to the Rising Sun Nazarene Church. Cards are available at funeral home.
