Betty Gullion

Betty S. Gullion, age 89, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Villa Hills, Kentucky and Vevay, passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, October 28th, 2017, at the Widows Home in Dayton, Ohio.

Betty entered this life on November 15th, 1927, in Carrollton, Kentucky, the loving daughter of the late John Scott and Faye (Banta) Gullion. She was raised in Switzerland County, and was a graduate of the Vevay High School.

Betty earned her Bachelor's Degree in nursing from Bethesda College. Betty was a former registered nurse for Bethesda Hospital for 15 years and for Booth Hospital in Covington, Kentucky, for 22 years. Betty was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church and attended the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church.

Betty resided the past seven years in the Dayton, Ohio community.

Betty will be missed by her numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Scott and Faye (Banta) Gullion; her brothers: James, John, Thomas, Paul, George and Ernest Gullion; and her sisters: Martha Young, Anna Ayler, Mary Kay Scudder and Lucy Branson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017, by Pastor Gary Peterson, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 2nd, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church or Fairview United Methodist Church. Cards are available at the funeral home.





Randy Knott

Gary Randall "Randy" Knott, age 66, of Vevay, passed away at 2:40 a.m. on Friday, October 27th, 2017, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.

Randy entered this life on May 7th, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Earl G. and Joyce Jean (Padgett) Knott. He was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was a 1969 graduate of the Southport High School. He attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, for two years.

Randy was employed in management in the produce and meat department for 14 different Kroger Stores. He was a former Iron Worker for Union Local No.22 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Randy was a former salesman for Dr. Dish Satellite in Vevay, for 10 years. He was employed for Belterra Casino Resort & Spa as a slot attendant in Florence, until he became disabled.

Randy resided in the Vevay community since 1988, where he made and maintained many friendships. He was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, Sons of the Vevay American Legion Post #185, the Sons of the Vevay VFW Post #5396, the Humane Society and the Disabled American Veterans. Randy will be remembered for his love of the Cincinnati Reds, the Indianapolis Colts and collecting sports memorabilia.

Randy will be missed by his brothers: Steve Knott and his wife Dixie of Greenwood, Indiana and Keith Knott and his wife Robin of Tennessee; by his nephews; Michael and Evan; and his abundance of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl G. and Joyce Jean (Padgett) Knott.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 11th, at 1 p.m., by Reverend Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends may call 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 10th, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Randy Knott Fund for the Switzerland County Animal Shelter, c/o Community Foundation of Switzerland County. Cards are available at the funeral home.





Jerry Earl

Jerry Len Earl, age 68, of Vevay, passed away at 1:04 p.m. on Thursday, October 19th, 2017, at his son's residence in North Vernon, Indiana.

Jerry entered this life on July 20th, 1949, in Rushville, Indiana, the son of the late Frank H. and Gertie E. (Dance) Earl. He was raised in Vevay, where he was a 1968 graduate of the Vevay High School.

Jerry was inducted into the United States Army on August 27th, 1970, in Louisville, Kentucky. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter M-16 and Good Conduct Medal. Jerry transferred to the Army National Guard with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on February 27th, 1972 at Fort Lewis, Washington. Jerry re-enlisted on April 23rd, 1973, in Louisville, Kentucky, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on April 23rd, 1974. Jerry re-enlisted on April 24th, 1974, in Louisville, Kentucky. He earned the Good Conduct Medal with bronze clasp (4 loops), National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Expert Badge Rifle M-16, Expert Badge Hand Grenade and the Mechanic Badge.

Jerry was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on October 4th, 1983. Jerry served in the army for 10 years and six months.

Jerry was united in marriage on March 5th, 1973, in Springfield, Tennessee, to Deborah Freudenberg and they shared over 20 years of marriage together until Jerry's passing.

Jerry was a former Security Guard in Cincinnati, Ohio until he became disabled. Jerry resided most of his life in the Vevay community. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, socializing with friends, playing guitar, watching movies, martial arts and being with his sons.

Jerry will be missed by his life long companion, Deborah (Freudenberg) Earl of Vevay; his sons: Frank Harold Earl and his wife Jennifer of North Vernon, Indiana, and Wayne William Earl of Vevay; his sister: Linsa Barrett and her husband Phil of Eustis, Florida; and his two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank H. Earl, who died on April 5th, 1960; and Gertie E. (Dance) Earl, who died on April 24th, 2003.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, November 10th, 2017, at 10 a.m., at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road, Madison, Indiana, 47250. Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 9th, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043.

William Davis

William Eugene Davis, age 82, of near Moorefield, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 26th, 2017, at his residence.

William entered this life on July 18th, 1935, in Pottsboro, Texas, the son of the late James Henry and Anna Cuba (Sonders) Davis.

William was united in marriage on March 4th, 1956, in Durant, Oklahoma, to the late Jo Ann Davis, and to this union arrived four daughters to bless their home. William and Jo Ann shared 59 years of marriage together until Jo Ann passed away on December 14th, 2015.

He was inducted into the United States Navy Reserves and was honorably discharged. William was employed as a hydraulic engineer technician for the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Broken Bow, Oklahoma and in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for 36 years.

William resided near the Moorefield community for the past six years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. William enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and was an avid reloader and loved the Western Channel.

William will be missed by his daughters: Valorie Gallagher and her husband Peter of Wantage Township, New Jersey; Mitzie Williams and her husband Gary of near Moorefield; and Melinda Davis and her spouse Amy Weiglet of Leander, Texas. He will also be missed by his grandchildren: Shane, Summer, Mitchell, Seth, Raymond and Ryan; his great-grandchildren: Rodney, Bailey and Xander; by his brother, A.W. Davis of Denison, Texas; and his niece, Dudley Kemp of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry and Anna Cuba (Sonders) Davis; his wife, Jo Ann (Davis) Davis, who died on December 14th, 2015; by his daughter, Vickie Cupit, who died on November 16th, 2006; and his infant grandson.

Interment will be held at a later date in the Floral Haven Cemetery, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice. Cards are available at the funeral home.





Sue Christman

Sue Lee (Benham) Christman, age 86, of Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, November 1st, 2017, at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4th, from 5-8 p.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 5th, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home; and burial will follow at the Pleasant Cemetery.

Geneva Gutman

Geneva Covington Gutman, of Aurora, formerly of Dillsboro, Indiana, passed away October 28, 2017 in Milan, Indiana. She was born

June 30, 1927 in Anderson, IN, daughter of the late Paul Covington and Eva McClellan Covington. She worked for Seagram's Distillery, retiring after over 40 years of service. Geneva was very patriotic. She made sure that everyone around her knew how blessed we are for the freedoms that we have in our country. She was a 20 year member of the Aurora VFW Auxiliary and served as the Patriotic Instructor for several years, as well as, other positions during those years. She was also a member of the Aurora Eagles and Aurora American Legion Auxiliary for many years. Geneva loved to cook and bake. She was known for her cakes and macaroni and cheese. She loved to dance, had a Native American Indian collection and an Angel collection. She loved being around people and was known for her infectious smile and kindness to others. Her favorite time was spent with family. Her children were her world to her. Geneva will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Surviving are children, Angela Wilson of Lawrenceburg, IN, Tanya (Todd) Daciuk of Cincinnati, OH, David Michael Gutman of Cincinnati, OH and Daughter In law, Betty (late, Jeff) Cosby of Rising Sun, IN; Brother, Donnie (Pansy) Covington of Vevay, IN; grandchildren, Rhonda Vinup, Renee Shoults, Jason Wilson, Tiffany Bergeron, Shante Mock, Michael Bohan, Matthew Bohan, Jenna Bohan, Breanna Bohan, Jeremy Cain, Jordan Cain and Kali Cain; 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Father, Paul Covington, Mother, Eva Covington, Brother, Paul Covington, sisters, Thelma Gutman, and Wilma Gridley; son Jeffrey Jerome Cosby.
Friends will be received Wednesday, November 1, 2017, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana. VFW Auxiliary Services will be held at 7:30 on Wednesday. Services will be held at the Funeral Home, Thursday, at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Aurora VFW Auxiliary, Alzheimer's Foundation or Charity of Donor's Choice. If unable to attend services, please call

the funeral home office at (812) 926-1450 and we will notify the family of your donation with a card.
