I can't believe this is the first week of Fall. These cooler temperatures have been nice. I finally got a chance to go to the new grocery store in Vevay, Cash Saver. I have to say I was very impressed. They had a great selection of products at very reasonable prices. The store was very clean and all the employees were helpful and friendly. I will definitely be going there often.
I have to make a correction from last week's news. I reported that it was the 10th annual Patriot Pals when it was actually only the 9th. Next year will be the 10th annual Patriot Pals get together and plans are already in the works for it.
I have not received much news this week except I was contacted by a Patriot resident wanting to host a square dance in Patriot. They are looking for feedback such as if anyone would be interested in coming and enjoying the festivities. There is someone to "call" the square dance. I personally think it would be a lot of fun. If anyone wants more information or just have suggestions or comments about it please feel free to let me know or you can contact a fellow Patriot resident at (812) 290-4006.
I did receive a call from Linda Furnish of Florence, requesting a recipe for Salmon Patties from Aunt Bea. I hope they turn out good for you Linda.
"Salmon Patties "
1 can Salmon
1-1/4 cup (crushed) cracker crumbs
Salt and Pepper to taste
Pour liquid off salmon, remove bones. Chop salmon into small pieces, then add other ingredients. Mix well.
Form into patties
I usually crush up extra crackers and pour a (little) melted butter on top, mix well.
Dip Patties in crushed crumbs, place in preheated skillet with about 1/2 inch of oil. Fry over medium heat until lightly browned on both sides.
