It's been a while since my last news article so I guess it is time to catch up.
We want to wish a belated happy Father's Day to all of you fathers who read the news. I know I miss my dad and Carol's dad every day. Great memories of both of them.
Ed and the boys, Ethan and Jack, took Carol and me to the Florence Freedom's baseball game, no greater way to spend Father's Day than with our son and grandsons. Thanks, Ed, Ethan and Jack for a great day.
Carol saw Carol (Coates) Smith at the Freedom game also. She was there with her family. Freedom Ball is a great place to take your family to see a good baseball game at a reasonable price.
Randy Turner went to Greensburg to enjoy Father's Day with his daughters and their families.
School is out for the summer. Mandy and Ethan, Liz and Ryan Bovard and sons and Sammi and Lily Browning all went to Great Wolf Lodge. They all went to the water park and the next day took in Kings Island.
Mandy and Ethan participated in the Relay for Life in Florence, Kentucky. Mandy was a member of the Target Team.
Ed, Jack, Petey and Angie Browning went to the Freedom Ball one evening.
Jane and Dan Geren of Laporte, Indiana, stopped by the house one evening. We are always glad to see them. Jane and Dan were in Vevay to help at the historical museum.
Thanks for stopping by. It is good to see you.
Carol and I took Ed and Mandy to Cincinnati to see Ed's surgeon. He is slowly recovering but still has a long way to go. He goes back to see his doctor in July. On our way home we all stopped and ate at O'Charley's in Florence. Ed and Mandy treated us for our 44th anniversary.
We met Dick and Carol Schroeder at Horseshoe Casino for lunch. They treated us for our anniversary. We had never been there before. It was okay but we will take Belterra anytine. Thanks Schroeders, we had a good time.
LoriAnn Lozier and several other band members were selected to march in the Indianapolis 500 Parade.
Dick and Carol Schroeder attended the 16th birthday of their niece Brooke Scherenbeck of Cincinnati. Happy Birthday, Brooke.
Mary Jo Meyer and her daughter Pat Getha and son Ian attended a surprise 50th birthday party for Mary Jo's daughter Donna Harmeyer. Patty and Ian spent a few days with Mary Jo.
Paul Covington had surgery at the VA Hospital. He is home now. Get well, Paul. We will keep you in prayer.
Sympathy to the Thurmond Hester family on the loss of his brother Rick.
Carol and I took a vacation or just a break. We went to Yadkinville, North Carolina, to visit old friends, that I was in the service with. We stayed with Thurmond and Betty Hester at their home. We didn't do much, it rained most of the time, but that was okay. While we were there they celebrated their granddaughter Kaylin's 7th birthday at their house with a cookout. Carol's brother's daughter Ashley met us there. They live in Jacksonville, Florida. We took Ashley's son Colton home with us. It saved her a trip all the way home. Colton will spend time with his dad and papa Steve.
Carol and I, Debbie and David Cox, and Wayne and Janet Daugherty attended the concert at Belterra featuring Josh Turner. What a great performer. He put on a great show.
Phyllis Kelly and Gina hosted a graduation party for Holly Rowe, Carol's niece. She graduated from Holmes High School. Carol and I attended as well as many others.
Carol and I attended the graduation parties of Zack Rodgers and LoriAnn Lozier. Congrats to all.
Jeanne Rector and Mike attended a Cincinnati Reds game recently.
Petey and Angie Browning took in Friendship one day and Carol and I did too./ The day we went it was 90 degrees and hot.
Carol had a yard sale over the weekend. Bev and Mickey Mathews stopped by. We had a great visit. Mickey has a great looking '57 truck. Andrea and Judy Kappes stopped during that storm that went through. Good thing it was in a garage.
Bev and Mickey Mathews have been on vacation. They traveled to Tennessee to visit friends. Bev is a cook at Jewell's in Warsaw, Kentucky. I am sure they missed her. She is a great cook.
Happy Birthday: Wayne Browning, Jeanna Sweeney, Larisa James, Billy Welch, Terry Thayer, Mattea Edwards, Ken Haubner, Ashley Mains, Ryan Bovard, Jeri McMath, Alyssa Leap, Julene Vogelsang, Betty Mishler, Virginia Kelly, Deb Darbro, Carol Meyers, Mike Wilder, Mike Honeycutt, Carla (Lolly) Zimber, Jennifer Scudder, Danielle Johnson and Brady Scudder.
Happy 1st Anniversary Ashley and Damien Maines.
Yard sales were well attended in Vevay over the weekend, beautiful weather. It was good to see all the people walking, looking and guying from the ones who had articles to sell. Reminded me of Vevay years ago.
Rachel and Chris Miller were home for a few days visiting family and friends. They came home for Zach's graduation. I know he was glad they were there for his special day.
Sympathy to the Alberta Turner family. Alberta was a great lady and she will be missed by her family and friends.
Well, that is all I have for now. Just remember the coffee pot is always on. So until next time, take care.
