Florence

The town of Florence will have another meeting tonight, (Thursday October 5th) at 6:30 p.m. at the Florence Church to plan the 200 year celebration for the town. More people come to each meeting with their ideas and volunteer to help. I hope the celebration will be as much fun as the meetings are. We have t-shirts to sell and should have more at the celebration. We will have a cake contest. Have your cake at the fire house at 11:30 a.m. Cakes only please. We will also be bringing other desserts to share with the free food. The food committee will be making chili on Friday night October 13th and could use some help. Call me or just show up. Come Saturday at 1 p.m. to meet our honorary Major, honor our veterans and recognize our police, fire, and EMS workers. Great music by Diamond Back, corn hole tournament, Inflatable obstacle course etc. Lots of history and tours. Everyone is welcome, no charge, its all free.

Happy birthday to Debby Gregory, Neal Smith, Danilee Thompson, Lybbi Heffelfinger, Pansy Stoneking, Jerilyn VanWinkle, Jerry McKenzie, Jacquita Lanman and all others.

Glenda Sullivan and Patty Chase had lunch at Bob Evans in Aurora and had a nice visit with Gink and Mary Ruth Poling. They were there to meet Nathan Littrel and Joe Lee. Glenda and Patty also had a nice visit with Dana McCreary at Walmart and Patty met with Julia Radford from Florence, Kentucky earlier.

Happy 60th anniversary Larry and Delcina Courter next week. Congratulations.

Charles Pickett said Jerry Marks will be moving from Kentucky to the Patriot area. Welcome!

The Hoosier Theater board members had a good meeting last week. Good things are being planned.

Linda, Paul, Annie, Maddie, Jason and Jasmine Jones spent last Sunday all day in Florence, Kentucky celebrating Jason and Jasmine's birthdays. First stop was Toys R Us, then Logan's to eat, then to Chuck E Cheese to play. On to Baskin Robbins for ice cream of course. Then to the new Kroger store in Union, Kentucky then to LaRosa's for pizza. What a day of fun.

Linda Jones took mom, Betty Hargrove to the doctor on Monday. Hopefully she is on the mend. Tuesday she took dad, Bud Hargrove to the doctor. He goes back next Monday. Mixed up the dates, oh my!

Charles and Alberta Pickett, Glenda Sullivan, Roy and Bonnie Duckworth and Patty Chase had breakfast Saturday morning and had the pleasure of visiting with Stan Whalen and his sisters Connie from Texas and Debbie from Ohio. They were spending time at the cabin on Log Lick.

Get well prayers for Lybbi Heffelfinger. She is Denny and Mary Lou Bowman's granddaughter and is improving slowly after her car accident.

Get well also to Ronda Norfleet. She is back to work at the Fairway Inn after a few weeks off.

Dale and Danilee Thompson of North Vernon were visiting in Florence but were called home Sunday morning due to the death of Dale's mother. She was 99 years old. Sympathy to the family.

Sympathy also to the Geneva Scotti family.

Saturday afternoon Richard and Janet Sullivan of Westport stopped by to see Glenda Sullivan. They were on their way to a surprise birthday party for Dickie Driver at the East Enterprise Fire Department. He will be 80 in November so this was a good surprise since they had it a month early.

Teresa Turner's little month old grandson Jayden York is now having a heart problem. He was back in the hospital. Keep him in your prayers.
