run to outstanding seasons
The Switzerland County Middle School cross country team continues to pile up impressive wins and times.
On Monday, September 24th, the Pacers competed in the South Dearborn Invitational.
In the girls race, Lady Pacer Whitley Schirmer continued her dominance of the entire area by earning the individual title in a time of 11:27.
Taylar Jordan was ninth in a time of 12:24; Moriah Northcutt was 23rd in 13:10; Leah Anders was 27th in 13:17; Cameron Ray was 28th in 13:18; Melissa Furnish was 29th in 13:20; and McKayli Scudder was 31st in a time of 13:42.
As a team, Switzerland County earned third place with 88 points; trailing champion Batesville (31) and second place Greensburg (50).
In the jayvee race that was part of the invitational:
Aleiah Thomas finished 13th overall; McKinley Scudder was 33rd overall; Keegan Turner was 36th overall; Zoe Cole was 44th overall; Bailey Crawford was 46th overall; Deanna Voris was 49th overall; and Emma Sullivan was 50th overall.
In the boys race, Switzerland County earned fifth place overall with a team score of 128.
Batesville (26) won the meet; followed by Greensburg (38); South Dearborn (101); and Sunman Dearborn (108).
Individually, Jordan Lay finished eighth overall in a time of 11:01; and Will Pike was 17th overall in a time of 11:21. Casper Stow was 20th in 11:22; and Max Anders was 40th in 12:40.
Mason Spurlock was 43rd in 12:54; Riley Spurlock was 46th in 12:59; and Patrick Stow was 53rd in a time of 13:25.
In the reserve race: Sam White was 29th; Matt Oatman was 30th; Trenton Spurlock was 45th; Eli Martin was 55th; Austin Dennis was 59th; Garrett Demaree was 63rd; and Blake Johnson was 72nd.
On Thursday, September 27th, the Pacers participated in a three-way meet at Madison Shawe that also included Madison.
In the girls race, Switzerland County won with a team score of 23; followed by Madison with 48; and Madison Shawe did not have enough runners to record a team score.
Whitley Schirmer was again the overall individual winner; followed by Taylar Jordan in second place; Cameron Ray in fifth place; Leah Anders in seventh place; and Melissa Furnish in eighth place.
Moriah Northcutt was ninth overall; McKayli Scudder was 10th overall; Aleiah Thomas was 13th; Audrey Kinne was 14th; McKinley Scudder was 19th; Keegan Turner was 20th; Calleigh Powell was 21st; Bailey Crawford was 24th; Zoe Cole was 25th; Deanna Voris was 26th; and Emma Sullivan was 27th.
For the boys, the Pacers won with a team total of 34 to edge Madison, which finished with 36. Madison Shawe had a score of 56.
Jordan Lay led the way with a third place finish; followed by Will Pike in fifth and Casper Stow in sixth. Leon Kinne was ninth; and Cameron Pappucci was 11th.
Max Anders finished 12th; Mason Spurlock was 14th; Riley Spurlock was 15th; Patrick Stow was 25th; Matt Oatman was 26th; Sam White was 27th; Trenton Spurlock was 28th; Eli Martin was 31st; Garrett Demaree was 33rd; Austin Dennis was 35th; and Blake Johnson was 38th.
