Middle School girls track team wins ORVC championship

Undefeated throughout the entire season, the Switzerland County Middle School girls track team wrapped up that perfect campaign on Monday night when the Lady Pacers captured the championship of the ORVC Conference Meet.

The Lady Pacers finished with a team total of 143 points; pulling away from the other conference schools with outstanding efforts. Jac-Cen-Del finished second with 89 points; followed by South Ripley with 69; Rising Sun with 50; Milan with 10; Southwestern with five; and Madison Shawe with four.

Switzerland County was led by some outstanding individual efforts:

- Whitley Schirmer won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:42.25 and she also won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:43.38. She finished second in the high jump.

She also teamed with Maria Northcutt, Mackenzie Covington, and Cameron Ray to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 4:46.31.

- McKayli Scudder won the high jump with a height of 4' 10" and she won the long jump with a distance of 13' 10".

She teamed with Veronika Perry, Taylar Jordan, and McKenli Scudder to finish second in the 400-meter relay.

- Taylar Jordan won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of :17.74; and she finished second overall in the long jump. She was also a part of the second place 400-meter relay team.

- Natalie Newman earned second place overall in the shot put and fifth place in the discus.

-Veronika Perry earned second place in the 200-meter dash; and was also a part of the second place 400-meter relay team.

- Maria Northcutt was second in the 800-meter run; third in the 100-meter hurdles; and was a part of the winning 1,600-meter relay team.

- Audrey Kinne was second in the 400-meter dash.

- Cameron Ray was third in the 1,600-meter run; and was a part of the winning 1,600-meter relay team.

- Mackenzie Covington was third in the 400-meter dash.

- Leah Anders finished fourth overall in the 100-meter dash.

- McKenli Scudder finished fifth in the 100-meter dash; sixth in the 200-meter dash; and was a part of the second place 400-meter relay team.

- Brandi Emery was seventh in the discus; and Kourtney King was ninth in the shot put.
