The Switzerland County Middle School cross country teams participated in the Southwestern Invitational on September 5th.
In the girls race, the Lady Pacers finished third overall with 66 points; trailing champion Scottsburg (51) and second place Madison (52).
Jennings County (106) was fourth; followed by Southwestern (117); Austin (142); and Crothersville (146). Christian Academy of Madison; Christian Academy of New Albany; and Madison Shawe all had runners in the race, but did not have enough to record a team score.
Individually: Leah Anders was second overall in a time of 14:16; while Alieah Thomas was seventh in a time of 15:14.
Josie Meyer was 18th in a time of 16:45; Rylee Hankins was 27th in 17:51; Maggie Clayton was 33rd in 18:16; and Zoe Cole was 37th in 19:08.
In the boys invitational, the Pacers (60) finished an impressive second overall behind champion Jennings County (39).
Madison (104) was third; Crothersville (112) was fourth; and Scottsburg (123) was fifth; followed by Southwestern (128); Austin (145); Christian Academy of Madison (215); and Madison Shawe and Christian Academy of New Albany did not have enough runners to record a team score.
Leon Kinne led Switzerland County with a seventh place overall finish in a time of 12:38. He was followed to the line by teammate Aaron Scudder in ninth place in a time of 12:43; and Caden Hankins in 12th place in a time of 13:07.
Damien Breeck was 16th in a time of 13:18; Doug Pedraza was 19th in a time of 13:31; Bailey Bennett was 31st in a time of 14:17; and Patrick Stow was 35th in a time of 14:32.
