10/10/2013 3:00:00 PM Loss ends Lady Pacer regular season
The Switzerland County Lady Pacers traveled to New Albany for their last regular season game against the Lady Bulldogs.
It didn't take long after the game began for the action to heat up.
The Bulldogs came out in the eighth minute to record the first goal of the game and move out to an early lead. New Albany then scored again in the 13th minute with another goal.
Down 2-0, the Lady Pacers didn't show any quit in their effort; and Switzerland County got on the board with a goal from senior Mercedes Parham to cut the lead in half.
New Albany then scored again, and the teams went to the halftime break with New Albany in front, 3-1.
The second half saw continued hard play, with both teams playing strong defense.
The Lady Bulldogs were able to score goals in the 42nd, 48th minute and 51st minute of the second half.
The Lady Pacers responded when sophomore Sam Christerson sunk a 35-yard free kick into the back of the net. That sparked a Lady Pacers run, as senior Bre Ricketts crossed the ball into the front of the New Albany goal that was headed into the goal by sophomore Jade Mullins.
Both teams battled out to the final whistle and refused to allow anymore goals. The final game score was 6-3 in favor of New Albany.
"We are so proud of these ladies," Switzerland County head coach Roy Leap said. "They played their hearts out tonight and are in the right mindset for our sectional game next Tuesday night."
