Records keep falling as Pacer swimmers hit the pool

The Switzerland County High School swim team continues to make a big splash in the pool this season, with two more school records falling during last Thursday's dual meet against Oldenburg Academy.

The boys team won its meet over Oldenburg by a score of 78-77, and the Pacers were led by Colton Penick, who established a new school record in the 200-yard intermediate medley with a time of 2:26.95. Colton also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:07.79.

Talen Taylor was a double winner on the night, winning the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :26.58; and the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:22.81.

Dakota Taylor won the 100-yard freestyle event in a time of 1:02.67; and was second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:24.97.

Nick Braun also earned a first place, winning the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:22.10. He also picked up a second place in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :27.12.

Gabe Streett was second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:16.82; and was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:51.25.

Nathan Braun finished third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:46.63; and he was also third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:25.59.

Corey Proffitt was third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:17.63; and he was fifth overall in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 3:02.87.

Richardo Cidral was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :33.35; and he was also fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:42.44.

In the relays: 400-yard freestyle relay team of Talen Taylor, Dakota Taylor, Nick Braun, and Colton Penick won their event with a time of 4:24.35; the 200-yard medley relay team of Nathan Braun, Corey Proffitt, Dakota Taylor, and Gabe Streett finished second in a time of 2:20.06; and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Talen Taylor, Nathan Braun, Nick Braun, and Colton Penick finished second in a time of 1:50.10.

In the girls meet, McKenna Edwards broke her own record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:25.57, which put her in second place overall in the race. She also competed in the 200-yard intermediate medley, where she finished third in a time of 3:29.70.

Shelby Cole finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 7:49.02; and she was third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:55.96. Jacqueline Hensley was third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 9:07.81; and Megan Chitwood was third in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:15.41; and she was also third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :32.56.

Anja Rotter finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:40.15, and she was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :37.35. Regan Chitwood was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 3:05.83, and she was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:22.70.

Lisa Alves was fourth in the 200-yard intermediate medley with a time of 4:02.78, and she was sixth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 2:02.05. Samantha Christerson was fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:41.97, and she was also fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:55.55.

Rachel Ard finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :34.29, and she was fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:24.03. Paige Lime was fifth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 3:37.13, and she was also fifth in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 2:05.54.

Lisa Leoni was fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:47.44, and was fifth in a time of 4:26.33 in the 200-yard intermediate medley; and Bea Gortazar was fifth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:57.87, and was also fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:48.26.

In the relays: the 200-yard medley relay team of McKenna Edwards, Anja Rotter, Lisa Alves, and Lisa Leoni finished third in a time of 2:53.41; the Lady Pacer A team of Megan Chitwood, Samantha Christerson, Shelby Cole, and Rachel Ard placed third in the 200-yard freestyle relay; while the B team of Regan Chitwood, Lisa Leoni, Lisa Alves, and Bea Gortazar was fourth in a time of 2:40.55 in the same event.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the A team of Samantha Christerson, Rachel Ard, Shelby Cole, and Megan Chitwood finished second in a time of 5:36.77; while the B team of McKenna Edwards, Regan Chitwood, Jacqueline Hensley, and Bea Gortazar was third in a time of 6:06.31.

Overall, Oldenburg defeated Switzerland County by a score of 110-57.
