Switzerland County senior center Austin Clark joined some rare company on Saturday night in a game at Franklin County High School.
With 5:03 seconds remaining in the second quarter, he took a pass at the freethrow, turned, and shot over two defenders. The attempt was good, and the points gave Austin Clark 1,000 in his high school career.
He is only the fourth player in Switzerland County boys high school basketball history to reach that milestone.
Finishing with 19 points on the night, he now has a total of 1,008 as of press time, and has three games this week in which to add to his totals.
Switzerland County's all time leading scorer is Brad Burk, who finished his high school career with 1,456 points - a total not likely to be matched.
Currently in second place all time is Nathan Christman, who finished with 1,155 points; and Steve Sebree sits in third place, amassing a total of 1,078 points.
After Austin Clark comes the rest of Switzerland County's top 10:
Kyle Green finished with 977 points; Jeff Weales had 956 points; Jason Craft had 939 points; Brandon Covington finished with 867 points; Charlie May had 850 points; and Brennan Bragg ended his career with 822 points.
