The Switzerland County High School archery team competed this past weekend at the Southeast Indiana Shootout as a warmup for this coming weekend's Indiana State NASP Tournament.
There were over 100 archers in attendance representing grades 4-12, as teams vied for the top team and top individual honors.
Switzerland County's Pacer archers finished second in the High School Division, trailing only to the #1 state-ranked Jennings County High School archery team. The Switzerland County team posted a score of 3,163 compared to the first place team's score of 3,302. Third place went to the team representing Scottsburg High School (3,096); and fourth place was earned by a team representing Christian Academy of Madison (3,053).
In the individual high school male category, Switzerland County posted three of the top five high scores, with Devin Harris leading the way with a season-high score of 291.
He was followed by Douglas Ray in third place with a score of 283; and Austin Goedl was fifth overall with a score of 280.
Jennings County had the second individual overall, Caleb Howard, with a score of 288; and the fourth slot went to Christian Academy's Greg Newman with a score of 281.
In the high school female division, Jennings County fielded four of the top five placings, with Natalie Owens pacing the way shooting a score of 291. Hannah Rennemier finished in second with a score of 289; third was Abby Alcorn with a score of 288; and fifth was Taylor Durham with a score of 269.
Christian Academy's Sally Back was able to crack the top five with a score of 279, landing her in the fourth position.

Next up for the Pacer Archers is the Indiana State NASP Finals to be held this Saturday in the Champions Pavilion on the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. The Pacers will be competing along with over 1,600 other archers vying for a coveted invitation to the National Tournament in May.
