Thomas, Lay in double figures as Lady Pacers fall to South Dearborn

The Switzerland County Lady Pacers continued their early road trip on Tuesday night - playing the second of four straight away games to start the year - and the team continued to gain valuable experience as they fell by a final score of 58-38.

Sophomore Aleiah Thomas again led Switzerland County, as she accounted for 16 points in the contest; including a run of five points in the second period and six more in the third. Among those points was a three-pointer.

Lexi Lay also had a good shooting night, connecting on a pair of three-pointers and four freethrows to finish in double figures with 10.

Junior Calleigh Powell added five points in the game, all in the fourth quarter; while freshman Keirstan Oeffinger and junior Kinsley Griffith each contributed three points. Jody Breeck converted a freethrow for one point.

Switzerland County was balanced in the game, scoring 10 points in the opening quarter; nine in the second; 11 in the third; and wrapping up the game with eight more in the fourth.

The Lady Pacers connected on seven two point field goals; found the range on four three-pointers; and were 12-of-21 from the freethrow line.

The road doesn't get any easier for first year coach Mark Boggs' troops, as the Lady Pacers travel to Madison to take on the Lady Cubs tomorrow (Friday) night; and the Lady Cubs are also 0-2 after season opening losses against Charlestown and East Central.

The road trip then wraps up with a game at Rising Sun next Friday night, November 17th. Switzerland County's first home game comes on Saturday, November 18th, when Franklin County visits; and that is followed by a home game with North Decatur on Wednesday, November 22nd; and a game with conference foe Milan on Tuesday, November 28th.

In Tuesday night's junior varsity game, Switzerland County battled hard before falling to South Dearborn by a final score of 36-34.

The Lady Pacer duo of Josie Meyer and Brooke Johnson had outstanding games, as each finished with 14 points on the night. Meyers' came on the strength of four three-pointers and a pair of freethrows; while Johnson scored 12 of her points in a hot third quarter, including a three-pointer, four field goals, and a freethrow.

Keirstan Oeffinger, Emma Sullivan, and Calleigh Powell each had two points in the game.
