School gets grant to help with latchkey
The Rising Sun-Ohio County School Corporation has received a $800,000 grant from the 21st Century program from the US Department of Education, announced superintendent Branden Roeder at the Thursday, Feb. 15th school board meeting.

The Rising Sun Shiners moved over the .500 mark with wins over Jac-Cen-Del and South Ripley this past week and more importantly both victories improved them to 4-2 in Ohio River Valley Conference play.

Primary ballot will have state races emphasis
The 2018 Ohio County Primary Election slate is full for the May 8th primary ballot. The only contested Ohio County race is for residents of Cass Township which will have four republicans seeking the party's three advisory board seats. Candidates are James "Sonny" Henry, Kathy Halloran, Neil Wagner and Raymond Kirkpatrick. Democrat Joyce Messer will be on the ballot for November and with the top three republican candidates.
